Left Wing Violence: What’s Next?

By Colonel Mike Angley

This author has written a few articles in the recent past about the true nature of American liberalism, namely its penchant for racism and violence. A piece on Jan 16th, ‘The Democrat Party’s Long, Violent History of Racism’ traced the roots of that party’s entrenched hatred and exploitation of minorities, particularly black Americans. In a companion article on Jan 19th, ‘The American Left’s Historical Embrace of Violence,’ the author examined the left’s reliance on violence when it fails to achieve political gains in the voting booth.

There are some lessons we can draw from these articles as well as recent history:

  • Liberals are sore (and dangerous) losers.
  • Liberals embrace the Constitution when it suits their purposes but trash and condemn it when it supports the opposition.
  • The left accepts free speech so long as it is speech with which it agrees.
  • That which the left cannot achieve peacefully and within the confines of the law, it will attempt to force from government and the people through violence, threats and intimidation.
  • Violence is in the DNA of progressives/liberals/socialists/communists/Marxists. When all else fails, it becomes the go-to locus for problem solving.

We saw left wing nastiness in the immediate aftermath of the inauguration of President Donald J. Trump. The author penned an article, ‘See, I Told You So,’ outlining the rioting that ensued as well as bizarre Women’s Marches that seemed to lack any consistency except for pussy hats and vagina costumes. Since that time, things have become even uglier as the left seemingly doubled, if not tripled, down on its reliance on force. This all begs the question, what’s next?

In recent weeks we’ve seen massive violence and rioting on the campus of UC Berkeley when progressive thugs showed up to stop right wing Breitbart reporter Milo Yiannopoulos from giving a speech. Not only were some of Milo’s supporters physically assaulted, but liberal thugs also burned down a building on campus. Ironically, the left has traditionally touted ‘Berserkeley’ as the ‘birthplace of the free speech movement.’ This author happens to believe the actual birthplace was Independence Hall in Philadelphia in 1776, but that’s a point to be saved for another day.

Many of the Berkeley rioters were dressed in black and have been affiliated with a group calling itself the Black Bloc. It’s not the first appearance for this group, and in typical fashion it resorts to extreme violence to push a left wing criminal agenda. There have been reports that Black Bloc and many other extreme groups that have been showing up at demonstrations and riots have ties to Hungarian-American billionaire George Soros, a well-known supporter and financier of Democrat Party politicians (and apparently a few Republicans who need to be voted out of office).

If the ties to Soros are true, the author contends it is high time for a federal probe, possibly using the RICO statutes as a foundation. The Racketeer Influence and Corrupt Organizations Act was meant to target organized crime syndicates – the Mafia — but it seems to have applicability here as well. If Soros-connected groups are organizing to engage in violence, assaults, rioting, vandalism, arson, and property destruction across state lines, then there may be a case for federal jurisdiction and possible prosecution. If Soros is directly involved, then perhaps his financial assets in both the US and foreign banks should be frozen pending the outcome.

What the future holds for the left remains uncertain, but the trajectory suggests ever-increasing violence. Whether it is Black Bloc or some other group – colored by Soros money or not – escalating degrees of force can be expected. The left continues to suffer from massive, crushing and humiliating losses in every election since the 2010 midterms. It has not accepted defeat well, nor can it be expected to suddenly embrace its loss of political power peacefully.

As the Democrat Party continues its implosion, expect it to do more of the same things that caused its defeat: embrace a radical left wing agenda and call its opposition racist, sexist, homophobic, islamophobic, and generally bigoted (everything the left actually is). The marriage of the Democrat Party and the left wing thugs it employs is symbiotic and historic. In the past, the party invented the Ku Klux Klan to deal with black Republicans and malcontents on the right, employed union thugs to assault scab employees, and today it hires professional rioters to break bones, windows and set fires. Such an approach is only guaranteed to turn those still on the fence politically over to the big tent of the Republican Party.

Will the natural progression of left wing violence lead to something akin to a second Civil War, this time pitting right wing Constitutionalists against left wing socialists? It’s difficult to contemplate such an outcome, but given the path we seem to be on, it is certainly within the realm of possibility. The nascent Trump administration, under the stewardship of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, ought to get out in front of the violence and stop it before it becomes a conflagration.

Colonel Michael (“Mike”) Angley is retired from the United States Air Force, a published thriller author, and a conservative writer who fashions himself as Attila the Hun with a laptop. Mike wrote for Andrew Breitbart’s Big Government and Big Peace blogs before the Breitbart consolidation, receiving superb feedback and kudos for typically weaving in pop culture references with his far right perspectives. He enjoys writing about military affairs, national security issues, and politics and is an avid Second Amendment advocate. When he’s not writing, he’s busy annoying liberals with FaceBook posts and Twitter tweets that point out the obvious flaws and fallacies of the left.

During his 26-year USAF career, the Colonel was a Special Agent with the Office of Special Investigations (OSI). The OSI is a sister agency to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) and has an identical mission that includes felony-level criminal, fraud, and narcotics investigations as well as counterintelligence and counterterrorism operations. His USAF experiences spanned multiple regions around the globe with five command assignments and duties at foreign, regional, theater and national levels.

He is a seasoned counterintelligence and counterespionage officer from the Cold War era, and if you ask him he’ll tell you the spy-vs-spy days were indeed the heady, glory era of espionage. During the latter half of his career he focused on counterterrorism missions in the Middle East and the Far East and operationalized many of today’s concepts for this unique arena while working the sand dunes of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and a few other “choice” locations. When Colonel Angley retired in 2007, he was a Senior Supervisory Special Agent and was in command of all worldwide OSI matters at Air Force Space Command in Colorado Springs, CO.

Mike Angley is also a published, award-winning author of three thriller novels in the “Child Finder” trilogy. His debut novel, “Child Finder,” received a glowing review from the Library Journal which placed it on its Summer Reading list in 2009. “Child Finder” and its companion sequel novels all won various awards from the Military Writers Society of America (MWSA) and the Public Safety Writers Association. In 2012, Mike was named MWSA’s “Author of the Year,” largely for work on his third novel, “Child Finder: Revelation.”

As an avid user of social media, Mike can be found and friended on Facebook (mike.angley) and followed on Twitter (@MikeAngley). His website is www.mikeangley.com. Following his USAF retirement, Mike and his family stayed in Colorado Springs, CO where they enjoy daily, majestic views of Pikes Peak and the Rocky Mountains.
